End User Licence Agreement
Last updated
This End User Licence Agreement (“EULA”) is between you and Vimmy B.V., Beechavenue 54, 1119PW Schiphol-Rijk, Netherlands (“we”, “us”). It covers the Squeaky app for macOS (“Squeaky” or “the app”), both the free version and the features unlocked by a Squeaky Pro licence. Buying a licence is covered by the Terms of Sale.
By installing or using Squeaky you agree to this EULA. If you do not agree, do not install the app.
1. Licence grant
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Squeaky on Macs that you own or control:
- the free version on any number of your Macs;
- the Pro features on up to two Macs at the same time, for as long as your licence is active (an Annual subscription that has not ended, or a Lifetime licence).
The app is licensed, not sold. We keep all rights in Squeaky that this EULA does not grant you.
2. Restrictions
You may not:
- share, sell, rent, lend or transfer your licence key, or use it on more Macs than your licence allows;
- copy the app except for a reasonable backup, or distribute it;
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, except where the law expressly allows it regardless of this clause;
- remove or alter licence checks, notices or signatures;
- use the app to break the law or to harm other people’s computers.
3. What Squeaky does on your Mac
Squeaky scans your Mac for junk files, large and duplicate files, applications and their leftovers, startup items and known malware, and shows you what it found. It only removes or changes what you choose. Cleanups move files to the Trash first, so you can look before anything is gone (unless you turn on “Empty Trash after cleaning” in Settings), and paths you mark as protected are never touched.
Some features need macOS permissions, such as Full Disk Access. You grant them in System Settings and can revoke them at any time; without them Squeaky runs in a limited mode.
Scans and cleanups happen on your Mac. Your files never leave your Mac. What the app sends over the network is described in the Privacy Policy: licence activation, update checks and optional anonymous usage counts.
4. Updates
Squeaky checks for updates using the Sparkle framework and installs them with your permission. You can turn automatic checks off in Settings. Updates may add, change or remove features. Which updates your licence includes is described in the Terms of Sale.
5. Licence activation
A Pro licence is activated by entering your licence key in the app. The app then sends the key and an anonymous machine identifier (a hash, not your serial number) to our licence server and checks in with it from time to time to confirm the licence is still valid. You can see and deactivate your Macs in your account.
6. Warranty
As a consumer you have the legal right to digital content that works as described, and the remedies that apply when it does not. Beyond those rights, Squeaky is provided “as is”: we do not promise that it will find every unwanted file or every piece of malware, that it will be error-free, or that it will suit a particular purpose. Squeaky is not a replacement for a backup. Please keep one.
7. Liability
Our liability is limited as described in section 10 of the Terms of Sale. In short: we are fully liable where the law requires it, and otherwise our liability is limited to the amount you paid us for the licence.
8. Termination
This EULA lasts as long as you use the app. It ends automatically if you break it in a material way, for example by sharing your licence key, and we may then revoke your licence. Your Pro features also end when an Annual subscription ends or a purchase is refunded. When the EULA ends, you must stop using the Pro features; you may keep using the free version under this EULA.
9. Law
This EULA is governed by the law of the Netherlands. If you are a consumer, you keep the mandatory protections of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts of that country.
